Hi friends,

Back again...
For a change, today, I am posting pics of some other miscellaneous decorative pieces that I have made over many years

These Manipuri dolls were made some 14 years ago... that was before I got married... Surprising that they are in good condition even now... Thanks to my mom for that...
These dolls have a basic metal frame over which cotton and then wool is attached to give the body shape. Then, wool is wound over it. The head of the dolls are wooden pieces available in shops. The costume can be as elaborate as you can make it.... I chose to go simple and traditional.
Made a few more of these just after my daughter was born... those got damaged when I shifted...

These are simple thread embroidery works on sieves... These too are from many years ago.. Looking at these, I do wonder how it is that I had so much of patience then to have spent time doing these pieces.....  I lack patience and don't have the luxury of time now ( how can anyone expect these qualities with a hyperactive 3 year old around !!!)

Will be back with a post tomorrow.
Bye.

Hello  friends,

Am happy to be back, with another post of my bags/ purses..
This was a pair of bell- bottom jeans hubby dear bought a few years back and stashed at the back of his wardrobe. Came across it one fine day as I was rearranging his dresses... Since he showed no interest, I didn't wait a wink before cutting it off at the knees .. the top part was remodelled into a pair of denim capris for my sweet girlie and the rest of denim material was transformed into a bag... This bag is quite wide... wide enough for me to fit a file/ folder into it very easily....

Then, there was a cute little skirt my daughter cannot get into  now... that is the brown patterned bit piece you see on the bag as also as the strap... Some cute buttons with the same material  was added as an afterthought... and a bit of simple threadwork....

The bag has a simple lining with an inner zippered compartment as well.... The pockets of the jeans are attached inside the bag, stitched to the lining..

That bag has given me company on many a trip, especially to the pediatrician... quite handy to keep the medical file of the kiddo.... not that anyone likes these trips, but these being a part of the job description of every mom... all  moms will agree, I guess...

Be back later,

Hey friends,

Am here with another post of my purses.....
Started to make them  and for some  time, just couldn't stop making more and more of them..
Front- view..

View of the back of the purse

The material is an old denim shirt and the flap and the checkered piece at the back are from an old shirt my hubby wanted to dispose of. The flap is actually the collar of the shirt...

Here is the handbag fully hand- stitched. There was this cute denim skirt my darling daughter used to love... now she has grown out of it and cannot wear it anymore, still she didn't want to give it off... so, made it into a cute bag for her ...

The cute skirt- bag...

This bag is fully hand stitched...

The  pink band at the top of the bag and the piece at the bottom came out of my girl's leggings .. The zipper came from an old jacket...

You know what.... Daughters are gems... it is easy to get them to give you a cute smile, some sweet kisses and  a loving hug... well, I surely got those for this project.... Actually, it is easy to make moms happy too... and this mom was a picture of contentment after completing the project...

See you later,

Hi friends,

Here I am with a few more purses I made... all from  scraps...

This multi- coloured piece is the first attempt.... lacks finishing...

This is of the material left after stitching a kurti...

All these are simple purses with a single zipper... and yes, the zippers were all from old bags and purses.... And, except for the first one, the other two were stitched entirely by hand...
See you later.

Hello friends,

Am back with yet another post...
It is going to be my purses .... all are creative reuse and recycle of old dresses...

This one was made for darling daughter from a jeans of her father.. the jeans was converted to shorts for him and the remaining was made into a skirt for the little lady ( will post pics of the dresses later) .. what was left after that went into making a purse for her...

The material for the designs is from an old dress of mine...

The zipper was sourced from an old bag..

This one was the hood of an informal shirt my hubby bought... He didn't want the hood and daughter darling wanted another purse... so, lo and behold.... here it is..

A little bit of lace and a button  to give it a girlie touch...
That's all for now....
Will be back with some more purses I made ....

Bye..

Hey friends,

Back with a new post...

This time it is the baby blanket I crocheted for my little prince when he was just a few months old.......( he is 3 years old now..)
This two- coloured Entrelac crochet blanket took me two weeks to complete.. But I felt it was worth the effort..

And the the most recent wool- work that I made ( I know 1 1/2 years is in no way recent...) is a sweater and a matching beanie for my brother's little princess, the same age as my naughty little lad...

The first set I crocheted for her was a orange and white one....

she has grown out of it now and so I thought it is time for a new one... The beanie she still wears...

The wool for the new set was bought by my sister on her Australia trip some 3 years ago and has been lying in my cupboard, not forgotten, but I had no specific plans for it... So, that was it.....

I had just one problem with this project.... had to finish this one in express time... My brother and his family were going back after their vacation and I had just 3 DAYS... I cannot believe it even now, that I could complete it....

The work in progress...

The finished work... The little one loved it !!

So folks, Bye for now....

Be back soon.

Hi friends,

Posting another one of my earlier works...

These are place mats made from yarn retrieved from our water filter...

Actually, I never would have known there is such a yarn in the filter if not for my mom who removed the outer cover of a discarded filter (well, that's where I get my inspiration for recycling from) to find this beautiful material for me to work with.... She was happy to see the finished product and said that her efforts to clean the yarn was really worth it.... That made my day !!

The table mat...

Close- up view..

Made six of those... one piece each out of yarn from one filter....

And, oh, yes... there is a plastic inner part to the filter... those now are bangle stands for my darling daughter... a few of them arranged in her cupboard help her keep her bangles properly....

Well then.... bye for now.
Be back soon..

Hi friends,

Some more simple pieces from  a very long time back....

This place -mat is made of thin cotton cord hand -stitched as a pattern..

A simple thread doily

The thread is from  a matty cloth I embroidered on
many many many years ago......
 Hello Friends,

Here are some more pieces of wool work I made many many years back... Don't even remember where it was that I got inspiration for these from...
What I remember clearly is that once upon a time, this one used to be my brother's turtle- neck sweater.. one that got torn off at the left elbow ...

This multicoloured piece also is from  yarn
from old sweaters...

And this one is a rectangular table- cover made of circular pieces of 2 colours crocheted separately and joined as a pattern. This too was a sweater in its earlier incarnation.

This is lined with red net.

 I will be back soon.
Bye..
